In the last blog, we began using your crystal - yes, putting it in your pocket is using your crystal, and in fact, a way that all crystal practitioners use their crystals, even advanced crystal healers. In this blog, we’ll start to dive into some other easy, common ways you can begin to integrate your crystal into your daily life.
So let's examine what properties you’ve uncovered about your crystal from this past week.
Here are some basic questions to get us on the right track:
What color is your crystal?
Was your crystal energizing or soothing? Or did it stimulate your mind?
Is your crystal tumbled (smooth and kind of roundish), or does it have a single termination point on it, or many little points?
Is it clear or opaque?
Let’s start with color. At its most basic, the color of your crystal harmonizes with the color of the energy centers, or chakras, in our bodies. Use the chart below to help figure out which chakra in your body your crystal is connected to:
Crystal Color | Corresponding Chakra | Placement in the Body | Properties |
Red | Root (1) | Base of the spine | Rootedness, groundedness, safety, addictions |
Orange | Sacral (2) | Three to four fingers below your belly button | Creativity, sexuality, our internal fire |
Yellow | Solar Plexus (3) | Three to four fingers above your belly button | Personal will, motivation, trust in self |
Green and/or Pink | Heart (4) | Heart area | Giving and receiving love, compassion, self-compassion |
Blue | Throat (5) | Lower throat/thymus glad area | Speaking our truth, clear communication |
Purple or Indigo | Third Eye (6) | Between the eyebrows | Psychic abilities |
White, Clear, or Violet | Crown | Very top of the head | Link to spirit/God/Goddess/Guides/Angels |
The most basic crystal healing technique that we can do is to simply place our crystal at the chakra in our body that it has a color correspondence.
For example, if you are working with a yellow stone, just as a yellow jasper or citrine, lay down and place the crystal on your solar plexus, roughly four fingers above your belly button. If you’re working with a multi-colored crystal, properties of each of the colors will be present, so you can put the crystal on either chakra point.
Plan to have that crystal there for fifteen to twenty minutes. How you spend that time is up to you. Some people read or watch tv, allowing the crystal to simply do its work, while others prefer to rest or nap, and still others prefer to meditate.
If you decide to rest or meditate, you may notice that random images, or memories, or snippets of sound or feeling begin to arise; that is the crystal at work. If anything comes up, simply place a bubble around it and watch it float away from your body. As your chakra attunes to the crystal and becomes rebalanced, it will discharge whatever has been blocking it. The sensory experience, the memory, feeling, or snippet of song, is that discharge. The bubble method is quick and easy, and allows for that discharge to happen without the mind continuing to hold onto the block.
And congratulations! You’ve just done your first crystal healing.
