Part Three: Saturating the Field

I’ve learned through many years as a therapist that insight is only the first step to healing—albeit a critical one. But this is also where many of us get stuck. The process of integrating that insight can feel distant, or even magical, like something that happens to other people but not us.

That’s where my personal technique comes in—what I call Saturating the Field.

When I’m engaged in shadow work, I place it at the top of my priority list. In short, I fill my world with the purpose and intent of healing. But critically, I don’t overwhelm myself with too many layers or directions at once. I focus on just one part of the shadow at a time, allowing my body, mind, and spirit the space they need to engage deeply with the work.

Let’s continue with the example from Part One—burnout arising from the shadow aspect of Justice, and the core wound of feeling betrayed, abandoned, or left to carry everything alone.

The energy of this phase is not only about illuminating the wound, but also beginning the process of integration. In my practice, this starts with a daily morning tarot spread.

Here's one I recommend:

Daily Spread: Shadow of Justice & Depletion

  1. What aspect of my Justice wound is active today?

(Shows where the pattern is playing out or being projected.)

  2. How is this energy depleting or constraining me?

(Reveals how the pattern may be unconsciously costing you energy.)

  3. What can I do today to bring this energy into the light?

(A gentle action, mindset shift, or inner offering to begin transmuting it.)

You may also ask questions like:

  • What part of myself is asking to be seen with more compassion today?

This opens the field gently, inviting a softer relationship with shadow.

  • What am I unconsciously trying to control?

This reveals hidden attachments or fear-based behaviors that are keeping the wound in place.

  • What story am I still telling myself that no longer aligns with who I’m becoming?

This helps identify old narratives or inherited beliefs that are ready to shift.

  • Where can I create space for rest or release today?

Because depletion is often rooted in over-efforting, this question gently refocuses the energy.

  • What energy or archetype can support me as I integrate today’s insight?"

This brings in the medicine—inviting a card to act as guide, ally, or energetic support for the day.

I strongly encourage keeping a journal, starting a blog, creating art, or engaging in any creative form to record your spreads and begin weaving your insights into your daily experience.

After journaling, I often move into meditation. You may choose silent meditation, but this is also a wonderful time for a guided connection with your spiritual support team—your guides, angels, or Source itself.

Find a quiet space and begin by imagining a grounding cord growing from the base of your spine. It might appear as vines, tree roots, a glowing chain, or a column of water—whatever feels most natural. Let it grow deep into the earth.

Next, focus on the crown of your head. You may visualize a flower blooming, a door opening, or a line of golden-white light stretching upward. Connect this light to your guides, your higher self, or Source. Breathe deeply. Then, simply speak to them.

If you’re new to this kind of communication, don’t worry about “doing it right.”

Messages may arrive as thoughts, visuals, sudden memories, images, or songs. Or… it may seem like nothing happened at all. But pay attention -  often the guidance arrives later—through dreams, synchronicity, or sudden knowing.

You may choose in the evening to gently reflect on how you noticed that energy showing up through the day.  It often works that way - that the insights come as a more gentle, “oh, it’s happening right now,” sense when the familiar feeling of the wound appears.

Pay attention to those moments, they are telling you you’re on the right track.

🌿 Additional Support: Books, Podcasts, Vibrational Tools

I also find it helpful to surround myself with resonant material—books, podcasts, media, even social media content that reflects the shadow I’m working with. This is what I mean by saturation: filling your field with the frequency of healing, rather than letting it fade behind the noise of the everyday.

If you’re in therapy, I encourage you to bring your insights into that space and continue the verbal or somatic processing that supports your unfolding.

And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention vibrational medicines:

Crystals

Crystals are beautiful allies in shadow work. Using our example, where the wound centers around feeling you must carry everything alone, I’d suggest stones that are gentle nurturers, like moss agate, and stones that support a steady growth of personal energy and creative problem solving, like carnelian.

You can carry small tumbled stones in your pocket or wear crystal jewelry (necklaces and rings are wonderful). Etsy and many local metaphysical shops offer a wide variety of affordable options.

Flower Essences

One I highly recommend is Snowberry from Tree Frog Farm. It’s known for gently dismantling long-held limiting beliefs, especially those rooted in fear or unworthiness.

Sound Healing

Tuning forks, metal singing bowls, or crystal bowls all offer vibrational support. These tools help realign your system and offer gentle harmonization while you do this deep inner work.

The Core Intention

What we’re doing here is saturating your field with love, support, and resonance. We are sending a message to your entire being that says:

“This matters. I matter. I am worthy of healing.”

When we prioritize shifting our relationship with our shadow, it sends a message that we are worth it.  That we are worth the time, the investment, the labor.  That we are worthy of being shown up for in that way, and that message is received.  We absorb the love that we show ourselves, and it allows for a safe container for the process of unwinding, growth and rebirth to occur.
